On Thursday 8th October Coulsdon Loyalty Lodge of M.M.M. No. 1268 celebrated a double presentation of a 50 year certificate in both Mark & R.A.M. for W.Bro. James Martin Dunham, known to all as Martin
Martin joined the Mark degree at Coulsdon Lodge on 10th June 1976 & then the RAM on 11th October 1976 & has remained an active member ever since, Being the W.M. of the Mark 4 times & doing a ‘big’ stint as Treasurer in both.
On reflecting how times have changed, when Martin joined the average price of a house was £12,000, a new Ford Cortina was £2026, a gallon (not litre) was 64pence (14p a litre), a pint of beer was 33p, a packet of cigarettes was 38p & Southampton won the FA Cup.
Martin was presented with both certificates by R.W.Bro. John French, the Prov.G.M. for Surrey )who is also a member of both lodges)
Good news is candidates for both lodges were read out & they both welcomed a new member Bob Oddy, who will take on the mantle of Secretary following the sad passing of Bob Breeze earlier in the year.
The Mark meeting was further enhanced with the installation of Steve Godsell as the new W.M. & this was conducted by W.Bro. Phil Clare.
